A small book, highly readable by everyone and gives close insights into Bharat Ratna and former President Mr.APJ Abdul Kalam.
In my opinion Mr.Kalam is a true Bharat Ratna and an inspiration to the young population of India. He earned all his positions through shear hard work, excellence and integrity.
The author, as all of us has highest regards for the President under whom he was working as a secretary. Narration of some of the trivial incidents gave a clear picture of Kalam. For example, he refers everything as a ‘fellow’, because he believes that everything has a life.
The book smoothly takes you from one instance to the other throughout the term of Kalam’s Presidency to unravel each facet of our former scientist President. Most astonishing things that I will remember for long are:
Kalam’s honesty in not wasting Government money in any way or using Government money for personal purpose
In one instance, author says freedom of speech is assured when you are with Kalam. The author says, people wondered the way the author was speaking to the President. This is definitely extremely difficult to find among people at high places.
Even recently, the dignity with which Kalam handled frisking controversy was possible only to dignitaries like him.
Finally, for those who want to know how Kalam managed constitutional issues, the book gives insider version of how Kalam managed the President’s rule in Bihar and Office of Profit Bill controversy.
At once place, author says Constitution is the Conscience of The President of India.
I hope the same is applied and followed by all public servants where they make the Constitution as their Conscience and act strictly according to that Conscience.
